-WOMEN WARRIORS-
A reflection of inner strength.
Seven women climbers gather in a talking circle. They share their struggles and redefine womanhood. Pushing the boundaries of the climbing world, they unite to amplify women's voices.
Overview of the Film:
At the base of the rock in Colombia, seven Latina climbers gather around a fire, reflecting on how the mountain has guided them through life's toughest challenges. Their hearts beat as they make the first women ascents on high-difficulty routes, climb 5,000-meter mountains, and free solo traditional routes. We journey with them through their memories and current adventures. They share stories of grief, eating disorders, domestic violence, motherhood, and bicultural identity. The mountains and cliffs are portrayed as places of ancestral power, where women find strength to grow individually and collectively.
Inspiration of the Film:
The goal of this film is to use climbing as a social tool. Seeking to tell the stories of underrepresented communities, the team focused on Latina women in Colombia. This is by no means a normal climbing film. We take a deep dive into identity with the hope that others can reflect and or resonate with the themes of the movie on a deeply human level.
